Orochinaru and Jiraiya Bookmark

So a friend of a friend of mine from work requested me to draw Orochimaru and Jiraiya on a bookmark sized paper. :XD: Turns out, she was planning to give it to someone as a birthday present. Haha! :D

And so here, Orochimaru and Jiraiya. I used the shadowy inky style when I drew this. I figured it'll really pop out like that. I also cut the paper a little differently, with some parts of them going out of the border. :D My friend planned on laminating it herself. Hope this laminates well, considering the irregular edges. :fingerscrossed: Hope her friend likes it though. :)

Okay, the title will spoil my little quiz game, but...

Who remembers this girl!!!???

I DO! I DO!!! :woohoo:

Good 'ol Lalaru.

She's from this really interesting and somewhat under the radar anime series - Now and Then, Here and There. I remember the message it tried to convey - about the ugliness of war and how it affects people, especially children, it also talked about undying hope, courage and revolting against mad dictators - it's amazing how the boy Shu changed that other world! :D All in all, it a great short series - great animation, interesting characters, EPIC lessons and message...

So yeah, I just drew Lalaru here again after ALL these years. :D I even found an old drawing I made of her. See here: [link]

I really wanted to see how my drawing style changed. :D And well, from how things look, I seem to have gotten rid of retracing the lineart with bold ballpen ink lines. :XD: Haha! I decided on sticking with really sharp pencils. I don't know. The nice thing about the old drawings is that the bold lines really make the subject pop out, but at the price of crisp details and a softer appearance... The new drawings look more cleaner and easier on the eyes, but the highlights are gone... :frustrated: Wah!!! Whatever! I ain't going back to using ball pens and ink pens. They're just not user friendly - messy, and they blot a lot... :XD:

A drawing of Lalaru (and Shu, in pencil) I did years ago in high school. :XD: Really different style before. :D

Toya from Ayashi no Ceres - I made this 2003, high school days. :D Yeap, doesn't look like him and I still used bold lines here. :lmao: Quite a change from how I draw stuff today. :D

Okay, title's a giveaway again, but...

Let's continue the "who's that character" game with this guy! :XD:

Who is he and from what anime is he from? :?

No clue?

Well it's Toya from Ayashi no Ceres. :XD: And why did I draw him... Hmmm... :? I do remember watching Ayashi no Ceres 'til the finale. It was great! Awesome love story (which shows how terrible Twilight is), nicely drawn characters, unforgettable opening song... Ah, those were the days - watching AXN channel every night to enjoy its classic anime shows (Flame of Recca, Ninku (better than all that Naruto crap, kiddin...), You're Under Arrest, to name a few...). Guess I went walking on nostalgia street when I decided to draw this guy. :XD:

I drew him before back in high school. Good thing I found it lying around my old stuff, scanned it and it's here: [link]
It's really interesting when you compare your old drawings with your current ones. You really see a change in style. I used to rely on bold line art A LOT and I could only do that with pens that blot a lot. :XD: So yeah, it's great drawing Toya again. But I have to say, I FAIL at making handsome men. :lmao: I don't know how Yuu Watase does that!!! Graaah!!! :frustrated:

Bernkastel: The Witch of Miracles

:woohoo: I downloaded this really cool fighting game a couple of weeks ago. :D What's great about it was that 1.) It was FREE! 2.) It's a 2D fighting game (my type of game) and 3.) It's VERY anime! :XD:

Ougon no Musou Kyoku Cross - Yeap, quite a mouthful. :XD: But man, I'm glad I discovered this game (thanks to Youtube again. :blowkiss:). The game features characters from Umineko no Naku Koro Ni. :D It's supposed to be somewhat related to Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (which is by far one of my favorite horror/gore anime) but when I checked out the anime eons ago, I found out it was pretty different from Higurashi. :XD: Something about this guy and a witch having some sort of argument or whatever and then texts in specific colors would appear on the screen... :stupidme: Honestly, I forgot the story. Wasn't able to finish the anime anyway... Kinda' lost interest. But after playing the game, I think I might re-watch the whole thing. :XD: Or not. :|

Okay, so the drawing I made here is of Bernkastel - my favorite character to play in Ougon Cross. :XD: I love her
cats.. And she seems pretty powerful. :XD: Her super moves has her summoning serpents and a WHALE! :lmao: So yeah, I drew her here with all those creatures around her. Yeap, just made this simple and sweet as usual. And again, I apaologize for the background. Got lazy, so I just put a blue circle in there. Like a boss. :| Btw, it intrigued me when I found out Bernkastel is somewhat connected to Rika from Higurashi. :D They're both my faves. :D I wonder how they're related :? Anyone care to explain? :XD:

Another request someone asked me to do. :| I frankly don't like drawing real people's faces. I always find it very vain on their side... I mean they could always just edit this photo using an editing program in a computer somewhere or whatever... I don't get it. :| Buuuut.... I get paid for this, so... :|

An Original Character No Name

This is an original character I came up with when I got bored. :)

She's supposed to be some entity that appears to dying people. She then offers them one wish to be granted - in exchange for their "future". :D Yeap. :| Not very imaginative, but... Whatever. :|

Uhm... It's just in pencil lineart. I want a friend of mine who's good with digital coloring to do her. :D Okay, that sounded wrong. :XD:

And then we continue yet again our nostalgia trip through anime history! :woohoo:

I guess this guy's familiar to most of you. :D He (together with many other anime characters) is part of my awesome childhood. :XD:

Part of the reason why I drew him now is that before, I never really bothered to make myself draw him. :XD: My kid self has level 2 apprentice drawing skills so... Yeah... :(

But now I just did! So, hurray!

Editing here using Photoshop is VERY minimal. No. Kinda like it's fresh from the scanner without touching it. :XD: I thought the sketchbook's paper color and texture was cool to keep in this drawing, so I didn't edit it out. :D Gives it that old classic sepia feel. :XD:

Btw, I never finished the anime show. So, how many swords did Yaiba get? And did he collect all those spheres? :?

You lookin' for Naruto? Want Rasengan? What Rasengan???

KU-AT-SU-KEN, b*tch!!!!! :explosion: Haha! :lmao:

The ORIGINAL lovable ninja - Fuusuke from the anime Ninku.

Yeah, I remember watching this in AXN. :D Such great memories. :D Can't even forget the anime's ending theme song.

Can't say much about how I drew this. Just my usual style, not much other techy stuff. :| I just wanted to draw characters from Ninku plain and simple. :D I never drew them before and that's a shame on my part 'cause I  this anime. :D

So yeah, great break from Naruto. :XD:

And I still think Fuusuke's character design is AWESOME! LOL! :XD:

Wolverine: Forest Hunt

I'm not really sure what got into me when I decided to draw something that's not anime for a change. :XD:

Tried drawing Wolverine here and somehow wanted to feel like I'm some pro. :XD: But failed. :(

Drawing Marvel stuff sure is a huge change from anime style. Again, I had some challenge with drawing musculature and coming up with good poses that's appropriate for the character. :| Here, I drew Wolverine crouching, claws extended, ready to, I guess, mess up his next target enemy - thus the demonic look on his face. :XD:

Well, he's always depicted with that kind of face. :XD: I also tried to anime-fy this drawing, but still failed. :XD: Just ended up with a very Marvel looking drawing. :|

Also, the shadowing I used here is inspired by most of the epic Wolverine artworks I've seen on the net. Usually, most of them seem to color him with the light set behind him, which would cover his face with shadows. :) And he looks great in that lighting scheme. :D

And yeah, here's the sketch for this: [link]

Vision of Escaflowne: Hand in Hand in Sword

Man, I still can't get over my nostalgia trip/anime quiz time! :lmao:

But I think most of you can recognize these guys. :D

Vision of Escaflowne! :D Van and Hitomi... And... That dragon thingy that turns into a Gundam... Er... "Armor". :XD:

The best thing I remember about this anime is that awfully super epic opening theme song - "Yakusoku Wa Iranai". Man, Every time I hear that song, just makes my hair stand out. LOL! :lmao:

Drawing this was fun, though still has some challenges. Again, had to make sure I don't cover too much area with poster color as it may wrinkle the paper like stupid mad. :frustrated: So I had to use some colored pencils to help color the sky and the grass/flowers. I also drew them both full body here. Sketchbook was just around the size of a typical short bond paper, pretty small area to work with, so drawing their small features is quite hard. Especially their faces. :whew:

Buuuut... Guess it turned out well. :| I actually like the fact that in this anime, Van is the one with the angel wings - usually, it's the girl who has those. :XD:

Gilgamesh: King of Heroes

Just watched Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works a couple of days ago. :D It was action packed, the fight scenes were fast paced and nicely animated, and the story was awesome - made some things a lot clearer. :D

I've watched the first season way back in high school. I really like the idea of this Holy Grail War where "Masters" summon legendary "Servants" and then they battle it out. :D

I also got really psyched when I first played the PSP game Fate: Unlimited Codes too! :D Great fighting game (and I VERY much love fighting games) with unique features and AWESOME supers! :D

I've actually also read around the net about the Fate series and found out, there are a lot of other stories that branch out or are connected with the main series. I haven't really checked ALL of the other stories out, but I did find out about Archer being the future self of Emiya Shirou - which I find really badass! :D

Okay, the drawing here. Yeah, my favorite servant Gilgamesh in his gangstah costume. LOL! :XD: Nah! I love this costume of his. This is what he wore during Unlimited Blade Works and one of his alt costumes in Unlimited Codes. :D I love how sadistic and super confident he is - very much like a mad King. :D

I made this very simple and minimal. :) Just manga-ish black and white drawing of Gil with his shadow and his noble phantasms planted on the ground, with a small crown above his head symbolizing his kingship. :XD: Yeah... And his blonde hair... :XD: And his Enuma Elish weapon...

Another fan art I made of one my favorite female anime characters - Code Geass's C.C!

And she's eating pizza! Why? Because she's THE Pizza Girl!!! :D PIZZA FOR THE REVOLUTION!!! :D

...And she looks hot and sexy eating it. :) Well... I tried to make this look sexy... :( LOL!

By the way, I wasn't aware 'til I rewatched Code Geass that her name is actually pronounced as "C two". :D

C.C The Immortal Witch

Didn't I tell you guys already that I freakin' C.C from Code Geass? No? Well I'll say it again... I super ADORE her! LOL! :XD:

I don't know, superlatives aside, I really do think she's the best female anime character I've encountered ever. :) Rei Ayanami from the Evangelion series is also a cute and complex character too, but C.C has that sort of aura about her. And I think she's even more of an enigma than Rei.

I mean, imagine her not being able to die - so she probably has endured countless deaths. And being immortal doesn't mean she's impervious to pain. Think about it, getting burned alive, impaled by spears and swords, gunned down, tortured... I guess almost all the ways a human could die she herself has felt ALL of that. :(

So it's no wonder how much of a cynic she is and disillusioned about humans and the whole world in general. I guess she doesn't even know what real love is too considering the many people she's made relationships with, her heart broken and then mended and then the cycle repeats... :( That's why she's such an interesting character. She's lived many lives, and you now wonder if she's a good person or a villain, or maybe she's just become a neutral force separated from humans. Yeah whatever, me babbling again. :D

Okay, so this drawing here is again a tribute to her past lives and her many deaths and how she went through them all. :D She's supposed to be sitting here on a crescent moon adorned with symbols that I think are connected with her - skulls depicting death, spears and sharp objects symbolizing the tortures she experienced, flowers and swirling patterns denoting her beauty... :XD: Yeah, just trying to put meaning in it all. :XD:

And that red background that "completes" the moon shows her past lives. :) Her present self is the only one in real color. :D

You know, I also like her costume - that white straight jacket thingy. It's really sexy. :XD: Kinky even. It's supposed to restrain her, but when she loosens it up, it turns into a really cool outfit. :XD:

Lelouch, C.C and Gawain

Nyahah! I just wanted to draw some mecha! And what better mecha to draw than Code Geass' Nightmare Frames - namely Gawain! :woohoo:

I remember I used to draw lots of Gundam before, you can still see some of them here uploaded along with the other old fan arts I made. :XD:

I used a screenshot for reference here. Robots and mechanical crap like this are pretty tricky to draw - all those lines and geometric shapes - not really my specialty, but, yeah gotta do something a little challenging for a change. :D By the way, I love the design of Gawain. Reminds me of the Egyptian god Set because of the color scheme and those doggy ears. :D

I hope C.C and Lulu are still visible here. :D

Ah... I  Code Geass. It's a shame I haven't watched the series seriously before - when it was shown in a local TV channel here. :( I only remembered that epic finale... Now I kinda' feel like I spoiled myself. :( Well, whatever, Code Geass is still a freakin' awesome bloody fun anime to watch.

Man, the way Lelouch does all those unnecessary gestures when he uses his Geass, LOL! :XD: His twisted philosophy which I like to adopt as my own. :XD: And the way he laughs! I mean he and Light from Death Note are the only "protagonists" in a story who have VERY villanous laughs. :evillaugh: I just CAN'T help but laugh with him whenever he does. :XD: Neighbors probably think I 've gone cuckoo. :XD:

Lelouch: Zero Unmasked

Here I go again with another Code Geass fanart! :woohoo:  Expect a couple more coming. :evillaugh:

I LOVE those official Code Geass art works made by the character designers - CLAMP.

Most of them are very dramatic, some are exquisitely detailed and almost all of them simply look pleasing to the eye. :D My favorite among them has to be this picture of C.C and Lelouch - C.C is naked and she has feathers growing out of her arms making her look like an angel and she's holding Lulu in her arms like she's protecting him. Lulu is clad in a black robe looking all defeated. F*ck. Why did I describe it when you can just check this link out. :stupidme: Here: [link]

So, being the wannabe that I am, I tried my hands on some "CLAMP" style drawing - and this is what I came up with. :| Okay... So it doesn't look very CLAMP-ish. :cries: Their group has a weird name though... *says CLAMP repeatedly until it loses all its meaning* :XD:

Anyways, I tried to show the chaos in Lulu's mind here - trying to fool everyone to save his sister but ends up hurting friends and loved ones, even Nunnally herself. 'Course, there's Nuna and C.C in the background - the two most important girls in Zero's life. Well... Don't know 'bout C.C. :| I mean both of them used each other for selfish reasons. So uhm... Yeah, tried to give this drawing a CLAMP feel to it. I modified Lulu's Zero costume here - added some accessories (which CLAMP usually does with their art works) and I didn't really follow the character design in the anime. I mean, CLAMP's Lulu and the anime's Lulu look different. :)

By the way, I used myself again for reference on Lulu's pose here. :XD:

Somehow though this Lulu I drew ended up looking like Shin from Gundam Seed Destiny. :XD: Or, if you haven't heard of Code Geass, you might even mistake him here as a vampire. LOL! :XD: Had fun drawing this though. Guess that's all that matters to me. :)
